The investigation into the death of a young woman in Paradip has taken a serious turn, with police now suspecting that she was sexually assaulted and murdered. The woman’s body was recovered two days ago from beneath a four-storey residential building in the Tarinigada area, triggering shock and outrage in the locality.
The case was initially registered as an unnatural death. However, the investigation gained momentum after police examined CCTV footage from nearby areas. Crucial visual evidence reportedly helped investigators piece together the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
According to police sources, the woman had visited the Sarala Temple on the evening of the incident along with a male friend. Following an alleged disagreement, she reportedly chose not to accompany him and was later seen standing along the Cuttack–Paradip road.
It was during this time that a non-Odia youth allegedly approached her and offered her a lift. Police suspect that he took her to his rented accommodation in the same building from where her body was later recovered.

Investigators believe the accused sexually assaulted the woman and later pushed her from the rooftop in an attempt to make the incident appear as an accidental fall. The suspect has been detained and is currently being questioned.
While the police have not yet issued a formal statement, sources indicate that a detailed disclosure is likely soon as the investigation progresses toward completion.
