Bhubaneswar: Apart from witnessing a single-day spike of 304 COVID-19 positive cases, Odisha also reported two more deaths due to coronavirus infection on Sunday. The two deaths have been reported from Ganjam and Bargarh districts, informed the State Health and Family Department.
A 76-year-old male COVID-19 patient of Bargarh district died while under treatment in hospital. He was suffering from diabetes for long. Another 49-year-old male patient from Ganjam district also succumbed to COVID-19. He was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tweeted Health and Family Welfare Department.
Of the 14 COVID-19 deaths reported in Odisha so far, a highest of seven deaths have been reported from Ganjam district, four from Khurda and one each from Cuttack, Puri and Bargarh.
Moreover, one more person, who was tested positive for COVID-19, died on Sunday due to other reason. With this, the total number of deaths other than COVID has reached 5 in the State.
Sharing details on the deaths of two COVID-19 positives due to reasons other than COVID, Health and Family Welfare Department informed that a 17 year old male from Nabarangpur district who was undergoing treatment for severe Diabetes Mellitus passed away due to Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
Similarly, a 53 year old male of Puri district died of Cancer of Oesophagus, Hepatic Artery Pseudoaneurysm and Hematemesis, tweeted Health and Family Welfare Department.
