Bhubaneswar: Amid the continuous uptrend of COVID cases in Odisha capital city, Regional Medical Research Centre Director Sanghamitra Pati on Monday informed that the crucial second phase of serological survey will be conducted from 16 August.
"The process for the second sero-survey carries utmost significance as it will show the July infection status in the capital. Since Bhubaneswar has witnessed steep rise in COVID19 cases in July, the mid-August survey report will decide the future plan of action," said Pati.
Shedding light on the previous outcomes from the surveys conducted in Puri and Bhubaneswar, the RMRC director informed, sero-survey report of Puri has already been shared with the government and the findings from Bhubaneswar survey says that 1.4 per cent of people have developed antibody against the virus.
"The July 14 report shows the infection intensity for the month of June as it takes around 4 weeks to develop antibody in humans. The survey report corresponds to the month of June," she added.
Speaking on sero-survey exercise in Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area and MKCG Hospital which was initiated on Monday, Pati noted that RMRC is going to conduct the survey with 2500 random samples from 25 wards of BeMC selected in random manner.
"1500 samples from Community and 1000 samples from COVID warriors and vulnerable high-risk groups will be taken in a generalised manner. The selection of the 25 wards will be in a random mode so that there would be no bias and the findings would be very representational," Said Pati.
