Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to witness a rise in COVID-19 cases with the State reporting 3,384 new virus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the tally to 90,986. The death toll has risen to 448 as seven more patients succumbed to the virus.
Of the new cases, 2,128 were reported from quarantine centres and 1,256 are local contact cases.
According to Information and Public Relations department, Khordha reported the highest 587 cases followed by Cuttack (492), Sambalpur (182), Jajpur (176), Ganjam (177) and Mayurbhanj (177).
With the spike in COVID-19 cases, the active case count stands at 27,672, while 62,813 have so far recovered from the disease.
According to Health and Family Welfare department, Sambalpur reported three deaths, while Bargarh witnessed two, and Bhubneswar and Bhadrak registered one death each.
While Ganjam and Sundargarh reported two deaths each; Balasore, Balangir, Cuttack, Gajapati and Khordha witnessed one death each.
The deceased include:
- A 75-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
- A 58-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Hyponatremia
- A 60-year-old female of Sambalpur district
- A 76-year-old female of Bargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes
- A 65-year-old male of Bargarh district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease
- A 60-year-old male of Bhadrak district
- A 62-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes, Coronary Artery Disease, Hypothyroidism, morbid obesity
The Health Department informed that 68,090 COVID-19 tests – 7,288 RT-PCR, 60,886 antigen tests and 116 TruNat-based tests were conducted in the State in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative test count to 15,53,257.
