Odisha reports 2752 new COVID-19 cases, Tally At 84231
Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to witness a rise in COVID-19 cases with the State reporting 2,752 new virus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the tally to 84,231. The death toll has risen to 428 as nine more patients succumbed to the virus.
Of the new cases, 1,708 were reported from quarantine centres and 1044 are local contact cases.
According to Information and Public Relations department, Khordha reported highest 423 cases followed by Cuttack (247), Jajpur (217), Ganjam (212), Rayagada (177) and Koraput (174).
With the spike in COVID-19 cases, the active case count stands at 26,826, while 56,924have so far recovered from the disease.
According to Health and Family Welfare department, While Ganjam and Sundargarh reported two deaths each; Balasore, Balangir, Cuttack, Gajapati and Khordha witnessed one death each.
The deceased include:
- A 73-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension
- A 68-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes
- A 65-year-old male of Sundergarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension
- A 51-year-old male of Sundergarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension
- A 55-year-old male of Balasore district
- A 55-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease
- A 70-year-old male of Bolangir district who was also suffering from Diabetes
- A 39-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension
- A 56-year-old male of Gajapati district
The Health Department informed that 58,338 COVID-19 tests – 7,813 RT-PCR, 50,449 antigen tests and 76 TruNat-based tests were conducted in the State in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative test count to 14,21,958.
