Cuttack: Despite repeated exhortations from the government to curb COVID-19 stigma, the social evil seems to be quite prevalent in many parts of the State. In a fresh instance, a city-based video journalist has allegedly fallen prey to such inhuman behaviour.
As per reports, the family of the video journalist, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, has been allegedly ostracised by the locals. Unable to bear the action against his family members, the journalist has threatened to end life if the State government does not intervene into the matter.
“After I tested positive for novel coronavirus on July 29, my family was ostracised. The ASHA and Anganwadi workers of ward number 3 also did not turn up to help my family members, who are under home quarantine,” the journalist alleged.
“Though, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation sanitised my locality, they did not sanitise my house even after I tested positive for the virus. I request to behave sensibly with my family, else I will commit suicide,” the videographer threatened.
With no other option left, the journalist, who is placed under isolation at DRIEMS COVID Care Centre (CCC), took to the social media seeking Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s intervention in the matter.
In the video message, the camera person requested the CM, Cuttack collector and municipality commissioner to help his distressed family.
Meanwhile, comments of the concerned authorities couldn't be contacted over the matter.
