Nayagarh: No chemical substance was used to decompose the body of the five-year-old girl from Nayagarh whose body remains were found in the backyard of her house at Jadupur village in the district in July last year.
Top sources in the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which submitted a nine-page charge sheet in the case at the Nayagarh Children's Court as per the directives of the Orissa High Court on Monday, have concluded that there was nothing to suggest the use of any corrosive/chemical substance on the body (remains) of the deceased.
The SIT finding is based on the bodily description in the post-mortem report and observation made from photographs, the chargesheet states.
SIT sources privy to the compilation of the chargesheet said that the semen sample of a male person was detected on the upper part of the frock of the deceased by the expert at the State FSL Bhubaneswar. It was then deduced that it was a case of rape and murder and there was involvement of male accused in the case, sources said as quoting the chargesheet.
The chargesheet also dwells upon allegations of non-recovery of some bones of the deceased by stating that the body remains were in advanced state of decomposition to a state of skelitonisation.
On allegations that the child’s body parts were taken away by members of an organised syndicate who had murdered the girl for the specific purpose, the chargesheet reportedly says, “The soft tissues were decayed and transformed into pultaceous masses. As advance decomposition has destroyed anatomical identity of individual organs, it is beyond scientific feasibility in a routine process of autopsy to opine whether any organ has been removed prior or immediately after the death.”
As the autopsy report mentioned about the skull being found separated from the body and the rest part of the body were found adhered to each other by very less amount of soft tissues, it shows that the entire bony structure was available at the time of autopsy, it added.
The SIT has reportedly attached a list of the witnesses and the seized articles in the chargesheet. During the investigation of the case by SIT, the accused was put to Polygraph test and the analysis and evaluation of his polygraph charts reportedly revealed deceptive responses in respect of all relevant questions.
Earlier, the alleged police inaction in bringing the perpetrators of the girl’s killers prompted her parents to make suicide attempt outside the Odisha Assembly in November last year triggering massive public outrage across the State. That had forced the State government to appoint a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under senior IPS officer Arun Bothra to conduct the investigation.
