Group Clash In Rourkela Leaves 2 Injured, Police Platoons Deployed

Rourkela: Palpable tension prevailed in Malgodown area under Udit Nagar PS of Rourkela following a fierce group clash between two factions of the slum on Thursday.

Keeping in mind the prevailing situation, five platoons of police force have been deployed in the area to ward off any fresh trouble.

Immediately after the incident yesterday, Udit Nagar police rushed to Malgodown slum to pacify the people involved in the group clash. Even Rourkela SP K Siva Subramani also visited the spot to hold a discussion with the locals.

During the group clash, one group reportedly fired gunshots and then both rivals attacked each other with swords and sharp-edged weapons.

Two persons who sustained injuries in the incident were admitted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela while police have detained seven others including the person who fired gunshot.

Police personnel are trying to bring the situation under control, sources said.
