Cyclonic circulation, easterly wave to trigger thunderstorm and lightning
A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
As per IMD, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is very likely at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 29th-31st January.
Similarly, isolated light to moderate rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the same period. Apart from this, heavy rainfall/snowfall is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on January 30, 2025.

IMD further informed that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is very likely at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Mahe during 29th January - 1st February under the influence of an easterly wave.
Two fresh Western Disturbances are likely to affect Northwest India between 1st to 4th February, informed the IMD.
Forecast of temperature:
Gradual rise in minimum temperature by 2-3°C likely over Northwest India during next five days and no significant change thereafter.
Rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C likely over Central and East India during next three days and no significant change thereafter.
No significant change in minimum temperatures likely over rest parts of the country.
