Several incidents of locals in Karnataka criticising the outsiders for not speaking their local language and forcing them to interact in Kannada have been reported. Moreover, several techies in Bengaluru have reported that cab and auto-rickshaw drivers behave horribly toward them for not speaking Kannada. Recently, another such incident has surfaced on social media which validates that the language war in Karnataka waged against non-Kannadigas has levelled up. In a recent incident, a local of Karnataka 'threatens' over an Odia billboard at a restaurant.

The video filmed shows a person inside the car and the billboard atop the restaurant written in Odia. The billboard reads, "Delicious Pakhala". The restaurant has billboards in three languages, Odia, English and Kannada.
The man sitting next to the driver greets a person inside the restaurant and calls him out. The duo converse in Kannada and the local asks the person from the restaurant about the billboard.
The person says that the restaurant serves Odia cuisine. Further, the local points at the billboard written in Odia and asks in which language is it written. After learning that the billboard is written in Odia language, he continues to ask something. Meanwhile, the man from the restaurant clarifies that in Karnataka, they give first priority to Kannada people.
However, the local seems to be in no mood to listen to his clarification. Instead, he asks him to remove the Odia billboard and he will check it after a week.
While the origin of the video couldn't be traced, it is shared on X by Lord Immy Kant with a caption reading, "Kannadigas are upset over Odia restaurants serving Odia food in Karnataka. No Hindi involved, just Kannada and Odia, yet they're bothered. How is this business friendly?" (sic)
