After star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was appointed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), the new skipper is under constant scanner. He is facing a tough IPL phase this year with hostile crowd at stadiums. The crowd keeps booing the newly appointed MI skipper.
Moreover, questions have also been raised on his poor on-field decisions. Though Hardik has cleared that the criticism doesn’t affect him much, the intensity of the anger against him is looking unstoppable. In addition to this, MI’s performance is not that great in this season so far.
Reacting over the development, former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has now claimed that the captaincy could be handed back to Rohit Sharma.
“Handing over captaincy to Rohit is a big call as whatever little I understand these franchises and owners, they don’t hesitate in taking calls,” said Tiwary during an interaction.
“There might be talks about giving leadership roles to youngsters. They might have talent, but experience has no substitute. Senior players like Rohit have toiled day in and out to reach the current position. Even Hardik has to learn a lot from Jasprit Bumrah. Our seniors should be respected on the field,” he further said.
“Hardik is under huge pressure. I think he felt the pressure with the kind of reception he received. I want to say something big. I have this feeling that during this break, Rohit Sharma could be given back the captaincy from Hardik Pandya,” he added.
