The 3rd day of the 3rd Border-Gavaskar Test match between India and Australia got off to a rather frustrating start as rain played spoilsport again, stopping play five times in the opening two sessions. However, for Indian cricket fans, the horror began as the Rohit Sharma-led team walked out to bat.
Scampering to meet Australia’s 445 for the first innings, Indian wickets fell like hotcakes in the pouring rain. In a short spell, or just 17 overs to be exact, team India lost 4 wickets at a score of 51 runs.
To add to the misery, veteran player, Virat Kohli again fell prey to an offside delivery, leaving fans in horror and disbelief, as he walked back after scoring 3 runs in 16 balls.
A clip snippet of an outside off from Josh Hazelwood that Kohli edged and lost his wicket to quickly headed to the top of trending videos on social media sites like X (formerly Twitter) where many Indian fans expressed their anguish in the comments section. “Even a school child will understand that the same mistake should not be repeated. Meanwhile Virat Kohli after 15 years of international cricket,” wrote one netizen, seemingly disappointed with the performance.
Meanwhile, others quickly pointed out that given the rapid pace at which India’s wickets fell, it makes hardly any difference whether Travis Head played in the game or not. The reference was to the manner in which the Aussie hot-head had hammered 152 off 160 balls yesterday before being knocked down by Jasprit Bumrah.

Indian fans claimed that even a target of Head’s score of 152 runs would be too high if this rate of performance by Rohit Sharma and Co. continued. An online rage was evident as many expressed concerns with star newcomer, Yashasvi Jaiswal walking back after facing just 2 deliveries and having scored only 4 runs.
Similarly, Shabhman Gill bowed out after 1 run in 3 balls and Rishabh Pant at 9 in 12. KL Rahul standing at 33 for 64 is India’s current major hope while Rohit Sharma joined him before rain stopped play.

Meanwhile, stumps were called for the 3rd day, and as of now, the score stands with India at 51 for 4, trailing by 394 runs. With a rain threat and a couple of days at hand, India can either look at a tie or an Aussie win unless luck favours them heavily.
