India will host the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in September, marking a major milestone for women’s cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this news following its apex council meeting in Kolkata on March 22, as stated in a report from Sports Tak.
It also added that Visakhapatnam is set to host the opening match and ceremony, with four other venues, including Mullanpur (Punjab), Indore, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati, having been shortlisted for the tournament, and the ICC expected to finalise the schedule soon.
Venue Selection and Logistics
The 21-day tournament will unfold across five venues to streamline logistics and avoid monsoon disruptions. Visakhapatnam, a regular Indian Premier League (IPL) and Test venue was prioritised for its proven infrastructure.
The final is likely to be held in Indore or Guwahati, as the reports added that the BCCI council agreed on five venues to minimize logistical challenges. However, the ICC must approve the list before official inspections begin.

Hybrid Model for Pakistan
Pakistan’s matches will be held in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model, mirroring arrangements for the 2025 Champions Trophy. This agreement, negotiated by the ICC, BCCI, and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ensures India’s matches in ICC events hosted by Pakistan are played at neutral venues.
However, Pakistan must first qualify by finishing in the top two at the World Cup Qualifiers in April 2025, hosted on home soil.
As preparations advance, Visakhapatnam readies to launch a celebration of cricket, aiming to elevate the sport’s profile.
