BJP strongman from Koraput, Jayaram Pangi has fuelled speculations about parting ways with the party while speaking to OTV on his future prospects.
Making a veiled hint at such an occurrence, Pangi in his interview with the news channel said that despite working tirelessly for the welfare of people in the last four decades of his political career, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done for the public.

“I have been doing party politics for the last 44 years but in the dusk of life, I want to dedicate my time towards the greater development of undivided Koraput which I have been unable to do so far. People are still deprived of basic amenities and villages are yet to see at least a motorable road. I feel I have no reasons to stay in politics,” Pangi said.
Explaining the reason behind such a decision, the veteran leader said that he wanted to work for the betterment of the tribals even without remaining associated with any political party.
Pangi said that he has instituted a developmental body, Dandakaranya Parbatmala Vikash Parishad which is spearheading the movement to seek Union Territory status to Dandakaranya Parbatmala province, comprising regions of undivided Koraput and some parts of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
“I don’t want to go against any party but with the help of the ruling and Opposition, I hope to take this revolution forward, “said the former Parliamentarian.
Pangi, a BJD MP from Koraput during 2009-14, joined hands with the BJP in 2017 and unsuccessfully contested the 2019 General Elections on a party ticket from the Koraput Parliamentary constituency.
