Political arena in Pipili is warming up fast with high-voltage campaign by three major political parties—BJD, BJP and the Congress for the ensuing bypoll to the Assembly constituency.
The Election Commission Of India (ECI) has announced a fresh schedule for the long pending by-election to the assembly segment. As per the fresh notification issued by ECI, the bypoll in the constituency will be held on September 30 while the counting of votes will be carried out on October 3.
The candidates of three parties- Rudra Pratap Maharathy of BJD, Ashrit Pattanayak of BJP and Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra of Congress have already hit campaign trail with house-to-house visit in various villages to convince people to vote for them after holding discussions with the local leaders.

While Rudra, the son of former MLA and BJD strongman late Pradeep Maharathy is currently campaigning in Zone No.16 under Delanga block with party workers, Pattanayak is holding closed door meetings with the workers to strengthen the party organisation further.
“We are making people aware about various benevolent schemes of the Centre and trying to strengthen the party organisation in the constituency,” said Pattanayak.
Meanwhile Maharathy said, “Our aim is to make Pipili the number one constituency in the State and we are relentlessly working for it with our party workers.”
On the other hand, Congress candidate Bishwokeshan Mohapatra has also held several rounds of meetings with the party workers at Jeypore. Former MLA and senior leader Uma Ballav Rath also joined the meeting.
“We are make people aware about failures of BJD government in the State and BJP government at the Centre. We are confident that people will reject both the parties and vote for the Congress this time,” said Mohapatra.
The by-election to the Pipili assembly constituency was necessitated following the death of sitting MLA Pradeep Maharathy in October last year. Altogether 10 candidates are in the fray for the by-election for which the counting of votes will take place on October 3.
