Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha twice this week, on May 5th and May 10th. The Prime Minister’s visits to Odisha assume importance after he said in an interview with a private channel that Odia language and Odisha’s ‘Asmita’ are under threat.
As per his itinerary, Prime Minister Modi will reach Bhubaneswar at 9 pm on Sunday. After spending the night in Bhubaneswar, he will go to Berhampur and Nabarangpur on Monday. There he will address public meetings.

He will again come to Odisha on a two-day visit, starting May 10. While he will hold a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Friday, the first day of his visit, he will address a public meeting in Bolangir on May 11. Besides making people aware of the central government’s pro-people yojanas and schemes, he will also campaign for his party’s candidates in the fray.
Starting from the top leaders to the rank and file of the Odisha unit of BJP are looking forward to the Prime Minister’s visit. All are waiting eagerly to see who will be in his crosshairs this time.
“After reaching Bhubaneswar at around 9.30 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spend the night here. The next morning, he will go to Berhampur and then to Nabarangpur. The PM’s programme will decide the direction of the state’s people,” said state BJP vice president, Golak Mohapatra.
“People are eagerly waiting to hear and have a glimpse of him (Prime Minister Narendra Modi). His visit to Ganjam is viewed as very important and, I think, it will lead to a tectonic change,” said BJP’s Digapahandi candidate Sidhant Mohapatra.
In his response, BJD leader Bhaskar Rao said, “The visits of top BJP leaders won’t have any impact on BJD. The election will be one-sided.”
Congress’ Koraput Lok Sabha candidate Saptagiri Ulaka said, “The rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hardly have any impact. Congress will come out victorious.”
Prime Minister Modi, who is said to be laying special focus on Odisha, is most likely to visit the State five to six times by May 30.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda visited the state, boosting the morale of the leaders and workers.
