BJP National Vice-President and party’s Kendrapara Lok Sabha candidate, Baijayant Panda on Monday visited Pattamundai and met several families who lost their loved ones in the recent past.
Panda met the family members of Dilip Mallick of Kakharuni village who are yet to come out of the shock from the tragic death of their 12-year-old son. It is alleged that the minor died due to some medical negligence.

“So far I have not received any assistance from the Odisha government. Baijayant Panda has been visiting our place at regular intervals and stood with us in crisis,” said deceased Chunmun’s father, Dilip.
Dilip’s wife said, “My son had a cold and fever. After rushing him to Kendrapara hospital, the doctors referred him to Cuttack’s Sishu Bhawan. We had conducted several tests but were not given any reports. The doctors told us that he would recover, but he died.”
While speaking to reporters, Panda said that the Ayushman Bharat scheme implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi provides Rs 5 lakh annually for specialised treatment if the facility is not available at local hospitals. But unfortunately, the Odisha government is not implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said.
“It is really unfortunate that poor people are not getting the benefits of the scheme. People are questioning why such politics is going on and they are demanding implementation of Ayushman Bharat in Odisha as well,” Panda added.

Earlier, the senior BJP leader also met the family members of Rati Ranjan Patnaik who is battling cancer. Similarly, he also visited the bereaved families, who lost their loved ones, including Gurucharan Patra and Rabi Ballabh Nayak of the Betala area under the Pattamundai Municipality.
