Under pressure amid exodus of leaders, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday tried to portray that all is well in the party. At a presser, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra also tried to clear the air surrounding the buzz over an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the crucial 2024 general elections.
Patra categorically refuted any chances of coalition with the BJP and termed it as ‘rumours’. He also accused some BJP leaders of spreading such alliance rumours.

“Some leaders of the state BJP are spreading such alliance rumours through media. We do not know why they are doing it,” said Patra.
On the exodus of leaders from BJD, Patra said BJP is welcoming the leaders who have either been expelled from the BJD for anti-people activities or who have no chance of getting tickets or they do not have any future with the BJD. The state BJP doesn’t have enough candidates to field and hence it is welcoming leaders who are quitting other parties.
BJD today claimed that the party will perform well in the upcoming elections in the state.
“BJD will win 120 plus Assembly and 17 plus Lok Sabha seats,” Patra added.
