Upping the ante against Odisha’s Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged involvement in the lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case in Kalahandi, Opposition parties in the State on Tuesday pushed for their demands for his resignation and a CBI inquiry into the case.
The Congress party announced to call Odisha Bandh if the Minister didn’t tender his resignation in the next 10 days.
“The Minister can’t escape by giving frivolous statements in the media. He should confess candidly about his involvement with the main accused in the murder case. If he is a ‘Fauji’ and not a ‘forger’ then he should tender his resignation immediately,” said Satya Prakash Nayak, the Convenor of Odisha Congress media cell.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi said, "Who is he (Mishra) to claim himself innocent? CBI will only find out the real accused."
She further said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should break his silence on the matter and hand over the investigation of the murder case to CBI to bring the real culprits to book.
On the other hand, BJD defended its’ stand on the sensational murder case.
“The stance of BJD and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is very clear in the case. The main accused has been arrested and police investigation is underway. Law will take its own course,” said BJD Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar.
Earlier on Friday, Mishra had issued a two-page statement in which he offered to resign from his post and also retire from public life if his involvement in the case was proved.
