Coming down heavily on Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra, the Odisha unit of Congress on Monday claimed that Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, had met the Minister at Raipur a day before the former’s arrest.
The Opposition party has claimed that Minister Mishra had visited Raipur on October 15, last year. Later, he went to Chandigarh before going to Delhi. He met Sahu following his return to Raipur on October 18.
Sahu meeting the MoS on October 18 and his arrest the very next day is coincidence or planned, the Congress asked. Moreover, the party has also released a video of the MoS at Raipur airport.
Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra, said, “Only two people were named in the charge sheet of the murder case. However, the name of the main conspirator is missing. We have been maintaining that the Minister had visited Raipur which he has been denying.”
Mohapatra said in the video (which he showed), Minister Mishra can be seen entering the Raipur airport carrying a bag. “He went to Delhi from Chandigarh and later landed in Raipur where he met Gobinda Sahu. The very next day, Sahu was arrested. The Minister should answer whether the meeting was a coincidence or it was planned,” Mohapatra asked.
However despite several attempts, Mishra could not be contacted for his reaction over the allegations levelled against him by the Congress.
Notably, Mamita Meher, a resident of Jharni village under Turekela Block of Bolangir district, who worked as a teacher at Sunshine English Medium School in Mahaling of Kalahandi district, went missing on October 8, 2021. Her decomposed body was exhumed from an under construction stadium at Mahaling in Kalahandi district.
On February 11, 2022 the Bolangir police filed the charge sheet against at Bangomunda JMFC court in Bolangir in connection with the case, mentioning Sahu and his driver as accused.
