The victim, identified as Swami Boipai, was reportedly cooking when an unidentified miscreant entered the house and suddenly attacked her from behind with a sharp object, killing her on the spot.

At the time of the incident, only the daughters-in-law were present in the house, but they were asleep and unaware of the attack. The woman’s husband and sons were away watching a football match in the village.

The husband returned home around 8:30 PM and was horrified to find his wife lying in a pool of blood. He immediately reported the matter to local police.

The motive and identity of the attacker remain unknown. Tiring Police have launched an investigation, and a scientific team has been deployed to examine the crime scene. A pair of slippers found at the site might serve as a potential clue.

“She was lying on the floor in a pool of blood when I spotted her. Initially, I thought, as she was a TB patient, she had perhaps collapsed. But when I looked closely, I realised she had been beheaded. Then I screamed,” said her husband, Mandira Boipai.

“My mother and my sisters-in-law were at home when the incident occurred. They said they didn’t know anything as they were asleep. My mother was cooking rice when it happened,” added her son, Ajit Boipai.
