In yet another incident of loot and theft in Bhubaneswar, a gang of six robbers broke into a duplex in a residential complex under Pahala police limits and allegedly fled with jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh on Saturday.

The event took place in the house of a family that was preparing for the wedding of one of their daughters, adding further sorrow.

Sources reported that the miscreants struck a duplex in the City Home complex in Pahala police limits in the vicinity of Bhubaneswar when the family members were outside for wedding-related works.

As per initial reports, the gang fled with gold, diamonds, silver, and cash meant for the wedding and also vandalized the CCTV system, taking away the cameras with them.

Meanwhile, police arrived at the spot, recovered footage from the DVR, and began a probe.

The brazen case of robbery is the latest in a series of thefts that have incited concern among residents in Bhubaneswar, while also posing a considerable challenge for the local police force to nab them down.

In the past month alone, several cases of robbery and loot have emerged from various parts of the capital city especially those on the fringes such as areas under Pahala, Chandaka, and Airfield police station limits.

Incidentally, on the first day of December, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted lakhs of rupees along with gold and silver jewelry from four flats of Vishal Garden apartment located at Uttara Chhak, highlighting an alarming spurt in crime.
