Video viral, yet no one intervenes! Odisha man mercilessly beats elderly uncle in public

A disturbing incident of domestic violence surfaced from Nabakishorpur Sabarsahi under Rasol police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, where a man was caught on video brutally assaulting his elderly uncle in the middle of the village.

The footage went viral on social media on Friday, drawing massive public outrage.

The accused, identified as Jitu Dehuri, was seen dragging and repeatedly beating his father’s elder brother in an extremely inhuman manner. The incident, which reportedly lasted for more than 15 minutes, unfolded in full view of the villagers—yet no one intervened.

According to local sources, the brutal assault has left the elderly man grievously injured. The motive behind the attack is believed to have stemmed from a personal conflict. Jitu allegedly had inappropriate intentions toward his sister-in-law. When the elderly man opposed this sort of behaviour, Jitu became angry and retaliated violently.

Despite the graphic nature of the violence, which is deemed too disturbing to show in full on either electronic or print media, the villagers remained passive bystanders. Meanwhile, on being informed, the police have arrested Jitu and are conducting a detailed probe.

In the purported video, the victim’s nephew, Jitu, is seen kicking, slapping, and dragging the elderly man with the help of a Gamchha and a number of residents looking on silently.

“I was cooking at home when he (Jitu) held me from behind. My son (a small child) asked, ‘Why are you holding my mother?’ He warned (the kid), ‘You don’t shout. ’ In the meantime, my father-in-law came to have his lunch. My father-in-law told him (the accused), ‘she is like your mother, and why are you inappropriately behaving with her?’” the elderly man’s daughter-in-law expressed to mediapersons.

“Irked with this, he (Jitu) severely beat my father-in-law,” the young woman alleged.

No comments were received from the police in this regard.
