It seems that superstition rules the root in Odisha. This was again evident after a ‘Tantrik’ allegedly pierced multiple needles inside the head of a 19-year-old girl in Bolangir in a bid to cure her. The victim is now undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The matter came to light after the girl, identified as Reshma Behera’s family removed eight needles from her head. Reshma hails from Inch village under Sindhekela Police limits in Bolangir district. Later, the family rushed her to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
Following a CT scan, it was found that there were over 10 more needles inside the girl patient’s head.
How The Girl Landed At Tantrik’s Door?
It was some four years back when the girl’s health condition deteriorated, and her family took the help of the Tantrik Santosh Rana of Jamutjhula village. The family took Reshma to the Tantrik as her health condition allegedly did not improve after medical treatment. It was allegedly during this period that the accused pierced syringe needles into the head of Reshma, who then had fallen unconscious. However, she could not realise anything at that time.

It was recently that Reshma’s family spotted the needles and gradually removed eight from her head. Later, they brought her to the hospital for further examination.
“The accused took my girl inside a room and brought her out after an hour. Later, we detected needles inside the head of my daughter,” alleged Reshma’s father, Bishnu Behera.
Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s family, the accused Tantrik has been arrested. No comments were received from the police officials or the accused tantrik.
