According to sources, the investigation into explosives loot case linked to Sundargarh has gained momentum. Rourkela police are tightening the net around those potentially involved in the shocking theft of explosives while being transported from a local warehouse, allegedly connected to Maoist activities.
Couple brought on 2-day remand
Warehouse owner Shravan Agrawal and his wife are currently under two-day police remand and being interrogated by investigators. Cops are now preparing to conduct a face-to-face interrogation of the couple to cross-verify statements and dig deeper into the logistics and possible links to the Maoist group responsible for looting nearly 4 tonnes of explosives from Banko locality in the district.
Police sources revealed that Shravan Agrawal has already divulged critical information under questioning. With both husband and wife to be interrogated simultaneously, the district law enforcement aims to uncover the truth behind how such a large quantity of explosives could be stored and accessed under suspicious circumstances.
This interrogation is expected to be a turning point in unearthing the full scale of network involved behind the theft, if any, especially any nexus with extremist outfits.
The explosives carrier van probe has taken a new turn. Following the arrest and remand of Shravan Agrawal, owner of M/s Garg Blast Services, investigators have now zeroed in on Nikita Enterprises. The firm is owned by Shravan’s wife, Nikita Agrawal, who is currently being questioned by police at Raghunathpali police station.
Shravan Agrawal has been brought in for interrogation after the Rourkela Police requested a five-day remand, of which the court approved two days. The interrogation is being led by SIT head Krushna Majhi.
