Subhadra Yojana: Bank timings changed in Odisha’s Gajapati to manage beneficiaries' rush

A State Bank of India branch in Odisha’s Gajapati district has reportedly altered its operating timings to manage the unprecedented rush of Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries.

The reports come from the Mohana branch of SBI in Gajapati where a large crowd had queued yesterday from as early as 7 AM. In order to handle the rush, the bank has reportedly mandated the branch to begin its operations from 8:30 AM instead of the usual 10 AM.

Besides, to prevent any untoward incident because of overcrowding inside the branch, tents have been set up outside, along with seating arrangements for women.

Sources mentioned that the large rush was mostly comprised of people who had not yet linked their Aadhar cards with their bank accounts. The government has mandated that in order to receive Subhadra Yojana funds in their bank accounts beneficiaries must have completed the linking procedure.

The third phase of the first installment of Subhadra Yojana benefit money was released into beneficiaries' accounts on Sunday. However, those who had not linked their accounts had been unable to receive any credit hence the rush in banks.

The current phase of Subhadra Yojana will directly impact over 20 lakh women across Odisha with the state government releasing about Rs 1000 crore in financial assistance under its ambitious scheme.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed that the last date to apply in order to receive the first installment of the financial assistance under Subhadra Yojana is March 7, 2025.
