Separate events held by the senior BJP leader Samir Ranjan Dash and Deputy CM Pravati Parida in Nimapara of Puri district stirred political chatter on Thursday. While the State’s first Utkarsha constituency-level meet was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of the Deputy CM, Dash celebrated a year of completion of the BJP-led government in the same constituency.

According to sources, political discussions have intensified in Nimapara following the two separate events hosted by prominent BJP figures—Samir Ranjan Dash, a former MLA, and Pravati Parida, the sitting MLA and Deputy CM.
Samir Dash was not invited?
The Governor of Odisha Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurated the State’s first ‘Utkarsha Nimapara Sammilani’, a constituency-level program aimed at assessing developmental progress, on June 4 (Wednesday).
Simultaneously, Samir Dash organised a celebration marking the completion of one year of the BJP government in Kalapanchan panchayat under Nimapara constituency.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Samir Dash remarked that most of the development projects highlighted at the Utkarsha meet had already received approval during the fiscal years 2022–23 and 2023–24.
“We helped elect Pravati Parida with 50,000–55,000 votes, and she has now become the Deputy Chief Minister. We are keen to see how she executes the Utkarsha mission in Nimapara,” Das commented pointedly.
In response, the Deputy CM Parida offered a composed statement: “In a household, elders naturally expect more from the youngster who works harder. I accept this with humility, not resentment. I believe this will strengthen the BJP further at the grassroots level, and ultimately, people will judge what work has truly been done in a year.”
“The more ‘Murabis’ (society heads) expect, the better I will work,” the Deputy CM added.
The contrasting tones of the two leaders have triggered considerable discussion within the local political landscape, indicating subtle power dynamics and realignments within the party’s district leadership.

Notably, Puri MLA Sunil Mohanty was invited to the Utkarsha event, but Samir Dash, despite his political stature and previous role as Nimapara’s representative, was reportedly not extended an invitation—fueling speculation of internal rifts.
