In a significant turn of event, property of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) office at Modipada in Sambalpur was attached following an order by the local Court.
As per reports, this action was taken in response to allegations involving unpaid dues to a bus owner, stemming from a dispute dating back to 1998.
Background of The Case
In 1998, Saroj Tripathy, a resident of Sambalpur, reportedly entered into a lease agreement with the Odisha State Transport Corporation (OSTC), acquiring two buses on lease.

As part of the arrangement, he deposited Rs 50,000 as security. However, the buses were returned to the corporation after six months due to unspecified circumstances.
Legal Proceedings
Despite the return of the buses, the OSRTC reportedly failed to refund the security deposit to Tripathy. Seeking redress for this unresolved matter, Tripathy filed a legal claim, eventually resulting in a court order to attach the transport office's property.
"The government had given us two buses in contract in 1998 in lease and I had submitted the security amount. However, the vehicles were withdrawn in six months. Though I requested for refund, the department didn't respond. Following the development we moved to the court. Following a trial, the court has ordered to attach the property of OSRTC," said Tripathy.
