A couple of days after the arrest of a person for allegedly running clinics and treating patients without valid medical certificate, another doctor is under scanner in Cuttack.
However, the concerned doctor is reportedly absconding following the development. His mobile phone is also switched off.
The doctor was reportedly treating patients at different locations.
As per Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani, a team will be formed soon to check the authenticity of the doctors at all the private hospitals and diagnostic centers.
“CDMO has been ordered to form a committee to carry out verification at all the private hospitals and diagnostics centers as per the prepared guidelines. The CMC enforcement squad closed a nursing home as per the guidelines recently. We were then only conducting the verifications based on complaints. However, from now on we will conduct a systematic verification on a regular basis and proper action will be taken against the erring private establishments,” said Chayani.
Owner of a Polyclinic, Rudra Narayan Rout said he had not doubted the authenticity of the doctor as nobody had ever complained about it.
“Our clinic was relatively new. As there were less number of patients, no good doctor was coming to check patients at our clinic. Moreover, we can’t ask a doctor to show his qualification and experience certificates. Nobody also complained about the doctor. So we never doubted him,” said Rout.
Earlier this week, an alleged fake doctor Subhrajit Panda, who was practicing medicine by identifying himself as a doctor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences of New Delhi and Bhubaneswar, was arrested by police.
Subharajit, whose highest educational degree is Plus 2, was treating patients at Best Polyclinic in Ranihat area in Cuttack for the last two years.
