UG admission 2025: First selection cut-offs released, Cuttack’s Ravenshaw University tops list

The State Higher Education Department on Thursday released the first cut-off list for undergraduate (UG) admissions to colleges across Odisha, under the Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

Notably, Ravenshaw University in Cuttack emerged as the top choice this year across all three streams- Science, Commerce, and Arts.

According to the Higher Education Department, Ravenshaw University has set the highest bar this year with its cut-off percentages leading across subjects. Political Science in the Arts stream was the most sought-after course this year and recorded a cut-off at 92.80%.

Cut-offs also zoomed to 94% for Zoology (the highest across all subjects and streams) and 93.67% for Physics in the Science stream. In the Commerce stream too, Ravenshaw dominated with a top cut-off of 90.50%.

Meanwhile, the data also confirmed that a total of 2,65,590 students have applied in the first round of UG admissions alone.

Admission Rounds to Continue Till Early July

The undergraduate admission process is being conducted in three phases via the centralised SAMS portal. The first round of provisional seat allotments was published today, with students expected to take admission between June 13 and 17.

The second round of seat allotment will be declared on June 22, with admissions scheduled from June 23 to 25. The third and final round of seat allotments will be released on July 1, and candidates will be able to confirm their admissions from July 2 to 4.

For candidates placed on waitlists or selected in the spot admission round, a final list will be declared on July 13, with admissions concluding on July 14.

Classes to Begin from July 10

As per the latest schedule from the DHE, classes for first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students will begin from July 10 across all universities and government-aided colleges in the state.

Further, postgraduate admissions are also underway in a similar three-tier structure, with the first allotment released on June 13 and the final round of PG admissions closing by July 25.
