In a shocking incident, a woman has claimed to have filed a complaint against a police official at the Banki police station, alleging an attempted rape at Ratagarh village in Cuttack district.

According to the allegation by the woman, the accused first behaved inappropriately with the victim and later attempted to sexually assault her on July 28. The victim yelled in protest. As a result, some neighbours rushed to the spot. However, the accused managed to escape.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the victim’s family alleged that no action has yet been taken against him even after four days, raising concerns about accountability and justice.

However, the Banki police station IIC stated that nobody has approached them over the matter and no FIR has been lodged in connection with the case.

"I asked the Banki police about the matter. However, Banki IIC stated that nobody has approached them over the matter. If somebody is working in the police department, is he not getting arrested? If she (the woman) intends, she should immediately go to the police station and lodge an FIR over the matter," said Cuttack Rural SP Prateek Singh.

The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with many demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
