In a deeply disturbing incident, a man allegedly poisoned his two minor sons in Odisha’s Tube village under Jarapada police limits of Angul district, on Friday. The children are now battling for their lives at the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

According to sources, the accused man picked up his sons, 12-year-old and 8-year-old, from school at around 12 Noon. He took them to the Nuakheta forest area under the Bantala police limits and allegedly poisoned them.
Some alert villagers who witnessed the act immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the two children, and admitted them initially to a hospital in Bantala. Due to their critical condition, both boys were quickly shifted by car to the District Headquarters Hospital.
While the exact reason behind the man’s drastic and violent action remains unknown, a relative has suggested that ongoing family disputes might have pushed him over the edge. The police have launched an investigation to uncover the full truth.
This chilling case has sparked shock and outrage in the local community, raising questions about mental health, parental responsibility, and child safety.
“A man poisoned his two sons in a forest area near Nuakheta village. Some villagers noticed when the children vomited. The locals alerted others after which I and 4-6 others reached the spot,” a local man named Priyabrata Sahu, who rescued the children, said.
“We rescued the children and brought them to Bantala hospital in my car. Doctors at the health facility referred the children to the DHH. Local police also supported me in taking the children to the hospital for treatment. They assured me that I will not be trapped in the case. The children are talking now, but are not out of danger,” the rescuer stated.
No comments were received from the police in this regard.
