Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi put forth nine significant proposals during a pre-budget meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Sunday.
The proposals focus on enhancing the infrastructure and economic landscape of the State as the country prepares for the fiscal year 2025-26.
During the meeting, the CM emphasised the necessity for increased financial assistance to fortify Odisha's economic infrastructure. Key among the proposals was calls for dedicated financial support for capital investment and urban development.

CM Majhi proposed to formulate master plans for development in urban areas and to stimulate economic growth in the southern and western regions of the State.
The CM also advocated for the establishment of a separate economic corridor in Gopalpur and an industrial township in Jharsuguda.
Highlighting the potential of Odisha's tourism sector, he batted for a special package to boost investment.
Furthermore, the CM urged for enhanced funding under the Jal Jeevan Mission, aiming to advance current projects through targeted arrangements to advance ongoing projects.

“We have demanded for economic corridors before the Finance Minister. She has also given a ‘green signal’ assuring to focus more and provide more financial assistance to Odisha. The discussion with her was very positive,” the CM said in a presser.
“We have submitted a DPR by Odisha Tourism Department and requested her to announce a special financial package of Rs 10 Thousand Crore for the State,” the CM added.
The pre-budget meeting was attended by several state finance ministers, offering a platform for discussions on financial strategies and plans.
