In a decisive move to bolster State employment figures, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed senior officials concerned to take immediate steps and fill the vacancies across government departments in Odisha, on Wednesday.

During a meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan with the Nijukti Aayog's chairperson, orders were issued to accelerate the recruitment process, emphasising completion by March 31.

The Chief Minister placed a special emphasis on filling positions reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), underscoring a commitment to an equitable and error-free recruitment process.

Key sectors identified include health, home, education, and agriculture, ensuring these essential services do not suffer from staffing shortages.

An ambitious employment target has been outlined, aiming to fill around 1,50,000 vacancies over the next five years, with 65,000 allocated to be filled within the next two years. Presently, there are 1,10,557 vacancies awaiting appointment across various departments.

Additionally, a separate drive is to be launched specifically to address the vacancies within the SC&ST department. It has also been directed to establish a new Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) examination centre in Jeypore, and Koraput districts.
