Nor’wester, locally known as Kalabaisakhi, swept through the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Thursday night, bringing with it intense winds and heavy rain.
The storm offered relief from the scorching heat, with temperatures dropping significantly. Several districts across Odisha also experienced similar weather patterns due to seasonal changes.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely to continue in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today and tomorrow as well.
Weather Alerts
As many as fourteen districts in Odisha are on alert, with coastal and northern Odisha anticipating gusty wind reaching up to 50 km per hour. These adverse conditions are projected to linger for the next five to six days. As a result, the heatwave condition may be reduced considerably.

Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre has also predicted rain and thundershower in the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar today and tomorrow.
Safety Precautions
Warnings have been issued for as many as 14 districts in the state, with authorities advising residents to take precautions against heavy rain and wind, especially in coastal and some interior regions. The weather may ease, bringing calmer conditions after April 13.
