In a heart-wrenching incident, a man lost his life in a road accident in Nilgiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday, just a day before his marriage.
The mishap occurred near Baligohiri on State Highway-19, when the car carrying him collided head-on with a dumper truck.
The deceased has been identified as Harekrushna Mahalik.
Reports said he was on his way to bring his sister home for the marriage when the accident took place. While Harekrushna died on the spot, his uncle, who was accompanying him, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The devastating accident has plunged two families into grief as wedding preparations were in full swing. All arrangements were made, and the ceremony was scheduled to take place the next day.
Following the crash, tension gripped the area as locals gathered at the accident site. Police have seized the dumper and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details regarding the driver’s role and vehicle condition are being examined.
