Man bludgeons wife to death with wooden plank over family dispute

In a tragic and shocking incident, a woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a domestic dispute at Sansa village under Betnoti police station in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Satyabhama Mahant.

As per reports, 45-year-old Ganesh Mahant allegedly attacked his wife, Satyabhama, following a family dispute and minor argument. While the woman was lying on the bed, Ganesh struck her head with a wooden plank, causing severe bleeding that resulted in her death.

According to local sources, the deceased's daughter and the neighbours had gone to forest to collect firewood, when the tragic incident took place.

The accused has been detained by the police in connection with the incident. 

Earlier in July this year, a man allegedly murdered his wife and dumped her body under a bridge, packed inside a sack at Joda village under Gurundia block in Sundargarh district.

The deceased was identified as Jayanti Kujur, an Anganwadi worker in the village. Her husband, Laxman Oram, was accused of committing the murder.
