Tension erupts at District Headquarters Hospital in Bhadrak
In a distressing incident, a woman patient lost her life after a lift malfunction at the District Headquarters Hospital in Bhadrak on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Minati Parida who was a resident of Narasinghapur under Randia Gram Panchayat in the district.
Lift Accident
As per reports, Minati was admitted to the hospital by her family members due to deteriorating health. Following initial medical care, she was being transferred to the women’s medicine ward.
However, an unexpected lift movement reportedly resulted in her untimely death. Her grandson and daughter-in-law, accompanying her at that time, narrowly escaped.
Unrest at Hospital
The incident has reportedly stirred significant unrest within the hospital premises, as grieving family members and concerned citizens sought answers regarding the tragic mishap.

Authorities have yet to formally comment on the technical failings that led to this sorrowful event, as investigations continue to understand the circumstances of the mechanical failure.
Medical Negligence Alleged
Earlier in February this year, tension erupted at a government-run hospital in Jajpur town after relatives of a deceased patient accused the health facility staff of medical negligence.
In a striking demonstration, the family positioned deceased Anita Rout’s body outside the hospital’s emergency unit. The grief-stricken family alleged that improper treatment and neglect by the medical team contributed to Anita’s premature death.
