Intermittent weather patterns are set to grip Odisha over the course of the next two days during which temperatures will briefly rise before falling again.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the prevailing cold wave will intensify further after the next two days, causing a significant drop in mercury levels. However, in between those days, a temperature rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over several places in the state may be observed.
The predictions come even as Odisha reels under intense cold and slightly unusual weather. While coastal regions like Puri and Gopalpur are witnessing temperatures a few degrees above normal, interior parts like Jharsuguda and Phulbani are recording below-normal temperatures, shivering at lows of as much as 6 degrees Celsius.
Incidentally, on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature among cities in the state at 6.5 degrees. Thereafter, Similiguda (5.6), Daringbadi (8.5), Rourkela (8.5), Keonjhar (9.4), and Jharsuguda (9.6) followed, recording temperatures less than 10 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also noticed a significant dip. While the state capital saw a low of 13.6 degrees Celsius, the Silver City dropped further to 12.3 degrees Celsius.
As per the weather department, foggy conditions are also set to grip several parts of the state along with the intensification of the cold wave.

As many as 10 districts are expected to witness dense fog starting today. Yellow warnings for the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kandhamal, Koraput, Sundargarh, and Cuttack, have been issued and will remain valid until the morning of January 14.
