According to sources, reacting sharply to the attack on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner, local MP Aparajita Sarangi expressed her deep regret and disappointment over the incident. “If my son had done such a thing, I would have called the police and had him arrested,” she stated.

The MP firmly condemned the misbehaviour, calling it completely unacceptable.

Sarangi pointed out that the conduct displayed during the assault was not just wrong, but deeply distressing. Referring to Jagannath Pradhan, who has been arrested and is currently in jail in connection with the case, Sarangi said, “It’s unfortunate. A mistake has been made by Jagannath Pradhan. It saddens me.”

However, the MP also emphasised that the focus should now shift towards self-correction and accountability. “We must work to correct ourselves,” she urged, making a broader appeal for responsible civic conduct and lawful behaviour.

Worth mentioning, in a significant development concerning the assault on Sahoo, senior BJP leader Pradhan was arrested after he surrendered at the DCP office on Thursday evening.

Speaking to the media before his arrest, BJP’s Pradhan said, “I have come here to cooperate with the ongoing investigation,” he stated adding, “If my arrest can resolve the issue, I am ready to cooperate.”

Denying any involvement in the incident, Pradhan asserted, “I have no connection with the attack on the BMC official. This is a conspiracy to malign my party and our government.”
