Instead, legislator Mishra chose to sit among others in the rows at the backside. Despite being invited by fellow party members and MLAs to take his place on the stage, Mishra remained in his chosen seat till the end of the key meeting.
Sambalpur MLA Mishra vents his dissatisfaction
When approached by journalists regarding his decision, Mishra instantly remarked, “I am not qualified to sit there.” Asked about whether he felt overlooked by his party, he retorted, “Why would anyone in my party neglect me?”
“You (media) should ask such questions to the leaders instead. Why are you asking to small persons like me?” Jayanarayan Mishra questioned the media persons.
When told that he is a senior leader of the party, MLA Mishra replied, “What value does seniority have? What happened if I sat at the backside? Tanka (Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy) and Irasis (Bhatli MLA Irasis Acharya), including several other legislators were also sitting nearby me,” Jayanarayan Mishra stated.
“Seats on the stage were meant for BJP state president, general secretaries, and ministers alone. I am none of them. What was the need of me sitting on the dais?” Mishra added.
Odisha BJP chief refrains to comment
BJP's state unit president, Manmohan Samal, refrained from addressing questions about Mishra’s seating choice. Instead, Samal diverted the focus to ongoing preparations for the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Sambalpur on March 22.
Odisha BJP chief Samal confirmed that all MLAs, especially those from Sambalpur district, were collaborating to ensure the event’s success.
