Four including an auto rickshaw driver sustained injuries after the car of Khallikote MLA Purnachandra Sethi allegedly hit the vehicle from behind near Badapokharia Chhak under Jankia Police Station in Khordha district on Monday.

According to sources, the accident took place when the MLA was on his way to Bhubaneswar from Khallikote.

The Legislator’s car hit the auto-rickshaw from behind near Badapokharia Chhak leaving the driver and three occupants of the vehicle injured, sources informed, adding that the injured were first rushed to Badapokharia Community Health Centre and later shifted to Khordha District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

While the driver is still undergoing treatment at the Khordha DHH, all the passengers have been discharged from the hospital, sources added.

Though both the cars and auto rickshaw were damaged in the mishap, fortunately, the MLA escaped unhurt and made necessary arrangements to provide immediate treatment to the injured.

On being informed about the incident, Jankia Police rushed to the spot and rescued the accident victims. Further investigation into the matter is on.
