The proposed ‘dhadi darshan’ (queue system) at Srimandir in Puri will commence from January 20, informed Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Tuesday.
According to the Minister, all kinds of arrangements for the ‘dhadi darshan’ at Puri Srimandir have been completed and the darshan system will be disciplined in this manner.
“Earlier it was decided that ‘dhadi darshan’ (separate queues for men, women devotees) would be implemented from the New Year. Hence a trial run of ‘dhadi darshan’ was considered. However, experimentation is not required now and it will be carried out directly from January 20,” said Minister Harichandan.
Meanwhile, some servitors are of the opinion that a trial run is required before the implementation of the ‘dhadi darshan’ system at the Jagannath temple as it may create difficulties for the devotees.
“How many devotees are able to have darshan of the deities in ‘dhadi darshan’ in an hour is to be estimated and it should be compared with the current system of darshan. Hence trial run in this regard is required. It should be ensured that the devotees don’t face any kind of difficulties in the new system,” said senior servitor Binayak Das Mohapatra.

In response, devotees harped on the disciplined darshan of the deities at the temple and wholeheartedly welcomed the new move.
“Devotees are facing lots of difficulties in the current system of darshan. If the ‘dhadi darshan’ system is implemented, devotees will be able to have a smooth darshan of the deities. The new system will facilitate convenience in the darshan of the Holy Trinity,” said a devotee.
