Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah returned to Delhi after the 59th DGsP/IGsP Conference 2024, which was held in Bhubaneswar, concluded on Sunday.
After spending three days in the State Capital, PM Modi and HM Shah departed for Delhi from Biju Patnaik International Airport.
The conference was attended by DGsP/IGsP of all States/UTs and heads of the CAPFs/CPOs physically and by officers of various ranks virtually from all States.
As per official sources, the top brass of police leadership of the country chalked out roadmaps to counter existing and emerging national security challenges, including LWE, Coastal Security, Narcotics, Cyber Crime and Economic Security. The progress in the implementation of the new Criminal Laws and initiatives and best practices in policing was also reviewed during the conference.

Speaking to media people after the culmination of the conference, Twin City Police Commissioner Suresh Devadatta Singh said, “Amid potential threats, full proof security blanket was ensured during the event. We were thoroughly investigating them.”
It is worthwhile to mention here that amid threats from Khalistani extremist groups, the three-day-long DGP-IGP conference was held peacefully in Bhubaneswar. US-based Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had threatened to disrupt the ongoing three-day DGP-IGP conference in Bhubaneswar.
Pannun reportedly sent audio and a threatening email to several journalists in Odisha yesterday warning of an attack and disrupting operations at Bhubaneswar International Airport on December 1.
Acting on the threat message, the Commisionerate Police, Intelligence wing of Odisha, SPG, and other agencies had sprung into action and beefed up security measures.
