Builder ‘beaten to death’ over property dispute in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar
A 48-year-old builder identified as Sasmit Biswal (nickname Chinu) was allegedly beaten to death by some unidentified miscreants on Friday in Sundarpada locality under Airfield police limits in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased belonged to Bhimpur under the Airport police limits.
The tragic murder of the local builder in Bhubaneswar has left the city's residents in shock, with initial reports suggesting that the incident stemmed from a property dispute. The victim man was attacked in Sundarpada of the Capital City.
Murder over property dispute
Sasmit was ambushed by a group of individuals while he was attempting to assert his claim over a piece of land and was trying to take the possession of it. The miscreants beat him to death and fled from the spot soon after committing the crime.
Following the attack, Sasmit was rescued by some locals and was rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where hospital doctors confirmed he had died before his arrival at the health facility.
Sasmit’s body remains in the hospital's mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
A large crowd comprising family members and friends assembled outside Capital Hospital, mournfully coming to terms with the sudden loss of their loved one.
“Some local villagers including four brothers used to create disturbance at the land and demand money. Earlier they had constructed a compound wall by infringing the land,” the deceased’s brother, Lingaraj Sahoo stated to OTV.

“A case relating to the land is sub-judice. Irked by the dispute, the four brothers killed him (Sasmit). After hearing about the fatal incident we reached the spot and saw that he was no more,” the deceased’s brother expressed.
