In a shocking and mysterious development, four more bodies have reportedly gone missing from the Maninathpur cremation ground under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, as this is not the first time such an occurrence has been reported in the area.
According to villagers, the bodies of Lakshmipriya Behera, Satyabhama Parida, Shatrughna Das, and Pramila Das were buried at the Maninathpur cremation ground over the past few months after their natural deaths. However, the locals recently discovered that the graves had been tampered with and the bodies had disappeared.
This brings the total number of missing bodies from the same cremation site to more than 15 since 2017. The repeated disappearances have raised serious concerns, and villagers now suspect the involvement of an international organ trafficking racket behind the incidents.
Despite several complaints filed at the Bhandaripokhari police station in previous instances, there has been no breakthrough in the investigation so far. The absence of any concrete action by police has left villagers shocked and angry, demanding a high-level probe into the matter.
“While going to the river, I found four bodies, including my aunt’s, were missing. This has become a regular affair. We demand a proper investigation,” said a local.
Echoing the same, another local resident said, “We don’t know where the bodies are going. We request that the district administration to conduct a proper investigation into it. This has created a panic among the locals.”
