After availing bail in a case relating to the abduction of a girl 12 years ago, the accused is allegedly roaming free while the family members’ wait for their abducted daughter still continues.
According to a source, a tribal minor girl was allegedly abducted from Parichhaguda village under Bisamkatak block in Rayagada district by a youth named Rakesh Singh in 2012. The family members had then lodged a complaint against Singh, a resident of their village, accusing him of abducting their daughter.
A long 12 years have passed since then. The police recently came to know about the presence of Singh in a place in Bihar. A team raided the spot and apprehended him. But he managed to get himself freed from the police and gave them the slip.

Later, the accused surrendered in the court and availed the bail soon after. While he is roaming freely, the missing girl’s family members are oscillating between hope and despair. While accusing the police of not investigating the case seriously, the distressed family members alleged Singh had sold their daughter somewhere.
“When my daughter didn’t return home from school, we started searching for her. Later, we came to know that Rakesh had abducted her. Then I lodged a police complaint. The police assured me of action but did nothing,” alleged Tanuja Wadka, the missing girl’s mother.
“A girl from our locality has been missing for the last 12 years. There are no whereabouts of her. We have lodged a police complaint but to no avail. The family now want to know whether their daughter is alive or not,” said Sarpanch of Chanchadaguda, Chanchala Wadka.
When asked, advocate Santosh Kumar Panda said, “The girl has been missing for 12 years. If the police trace her out, people’s faith in police and administration would be reaffirmed.”
However, the police couldn’t be contacted for their comments.
