In a heartening development deep within the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, the residents of Polampad village have witnessed a moment they had almost given up on- the return of electricity after nearly four decades.
According to reports by ANI, for years, the village had been deprived of basic infrastructure as Naxal insurgents systematically dismantled power lines, destroyed roads, and cut off essential services.
The Maoists aimed to isolate villages from the state and its institutions, and with Sukma, they had achieved it. But now, security forces have not only rooted out Naxals but also put this village back on track to development, positioning its citizens to firmly receive as many benefits as any other independent Indian.
The return of electricity to Polampad after 40 years was made possible following the establishment of a CRPF camp near the area in 2024. With security forces firmly positioned, the restoration of electricity has opened a floodgate of possibilities.
“In this area, a lot of villages had electricity, but the Naxalites destroyed the power connection to a lot of villages. They also destroyed roads. But after the CRPF camp was set up, electricity, roads, and other facilities were restored,” said Sukma SP Kiran Chavan to ANI.

From Blackouts to Bright Future
The power supply isn’t just about light, as it symbolizes hope, safety, and the promise of progress.
With roads being rebuilt and other basic services returning, villagers can now envision a future where children study under lamps, healthcare workers use powered equipment, and homes stay connected to the wider world.
“We received electricity yesterday and are delighted with this development. With the setting up of the CRPF camp, we have also received the gifts of roads and cycles,” said a local to the news outlet.
Polampad has now become a glowing symbol of resilience and state outreach. For many residents, it’s not just about switching on a bulb, but about finally stepping out of the shadows of conflict and into a future where dreams can now be powered, quite literally, by electricity.
