Close on the heels of the arrest of a top leader of CPI (Maoist), Dubashi Sankar from Boipariguda police limits in Koraput district, the Odisha Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a Maoist camp near Kumikhari-Badli Pahad reserve forest area on the Malkangiri-Koraput border.
Huge cache of articles including a rifle and several rounds of ammunition has been seized during the combing operation launched by a joint team of SOG, DVF commandos of the Odisha police and BSF jawans.
The combing operation was launched in the area following intelligence input regarding the presence and movement of armed Maoist cadres, police said.

Subsequently an ex-change of fire took place between the security forces and the Maoists on September 14. The ultras reportedly abandoned the place after the security forces resorted to heavy firing.
Malkangiri SP, Prahlad Meena said that a top Maoist leader, Suresh, managed to escape from the spot. However, two rebels have been arrested and the combing operation has been intensified in the area.
“The exchange of fire took place during the combing operation. A Naxal leader, Suresh Surana managed to escape. However, we have seized several Maoist articles including a rifle, detonators during searches. We have intensified the combing operation in the area,” said Meena.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Odisha police on Monday had arrested a top leader of CPI (Maoist), Dubashi Sankar from Boipariguda police limits in Koraput district. Dubashi Sankar, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head, was arrested during a joint operation by the Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Odisha Police and the Border Security Force (BSF).
He was nabbed from under Baipariguda police limits when he was allegedly planning to carry out violent activities with the help of other members.
