The Vigilance sleuths on Friday conducted searches at several properties belonging to a senior Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) official for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his know sources of income.
“Huge amount of cash, gold ornaments, plots (documents) and foreign currencies have been found during the raid. Only after counting of cash and examination of documents, we will be in a position to share more details,” said a senior Vigilance official who is part of the raiding team.
As per reports, simultaneous searches were conducted at the residence of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to a Member of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) in Bhubaneswar and five other places in the Capital City and Cuttack.

Vigilance sources said that Rs 13 lakh cash was recovered from the house of Biranchi Nayaran Sahoo’s brother-in-law.
The anti-corruption wing has got vital information regarding two double storied properties and 9 plots registered in the name of Sahoo and his family members, during the searches.
Sources said huge amount of cash, gold ornaments, insurance and documents pertaining to investments in shares and bonds have been recovered from Sahoo’s residence.
Senior Vigilance officials said that a detailed investigation will be conducted to ascertain how Sahoo managed to amass such wealth. Whether he was accepting money from various OSSC job aspirants and other related aspects will be thoroughly probed, officials said.
